Hello everyone …
My name is Jhoanne Asva. My home base is in Bangkok, Thailand, where my passion and love for colours emerged. Here is my story…
Two years ago, after my mom retired from work, her best friend introduced her to the world of acrylic painting. I watched my mom paint for a couple of months every single day with a huge question mark as to why she found it so alluring. Then one day, after I came back from work (did I mention that I am a full time financial advisor as well ?), I saw a 15x20cm canvas and multiple acrylic colors flat on the table.
I am not sure what happened during the space of 5 mins, but the next thing I knew was that I was painting for the first time in my life (that is if you exclude my elementary and high school art experience). I had no experience, no clue what I was doing. The only thing I know was that I love flowers, and lots and, lots of colours. So, you can already tell that my first painting was of a simple flower. I was so happy with my first painting that I posted it on my facebook.
One of my best friend saw it and was totally in love with it! She asked me if I can sell this painting to her. I was in shock because I thought that it looked like it came out of a child’s play book. But she insisted that she really loved it…
That was the first time that I realised that my painting can actually make people ‘HAPPY’
From then onwards, I started painting various kind of pictures including landscape, animals, more flowers. I find that painting makes me calm and at peace. It is my way of meditation…
Shortly after that, I was introduced to the ‘ABSTRACT’ world through a random YouTube channel that I was just scrolling by for my next inspiration. I will never forget the first sensation of how limitless my canvas and creation can be with abstract art. The way that the color blended into each other was just on a whole new level field from the traditional artwork. I knew right then that this was my true calling. My mind was blown away.
I WAS IN LOVE
I never turned back to other kind of paintings from that day onwards. I spent my days cultivating my painting skills, the color charts, the pattern, the inspiration, the style, the love, the passion and the everything that is unspoken behind the canvas.
I find that my absolute 2 passions are (1) Colours, colours and more colours. While I do not have any words to describe how my love for colour feels like, all I know is that I am in ‘love’ and in ‘awe’ when I see colour touches each other. To me it is like a little dance, a little ballet or sometimes a huge wave of emotions & spirituality rolling into that particular canvas. To be able to capture that moment is to know you are alive. You are living on this vibrant world (2) The way my painting makes people feel. The one thing that I find really interesting about abstract painting is that – it makes people feel all sorts of emotion. I am always intrigue when people reach out to me for a particular type of painting. I love the feeling how I can better ‘connect’ with them through my paintings. The emotion that they are going through makes me feel like my art is healing them in someways.
I am still, to this day, utterly in love with abstract painting. The more I paint, the more I connect with the present. It is my escape from noisy world into my own world.
It is my creation, my world, my peace, and my now…
What I hope the most is for my painting to uplift you all in someways, to shed light into your dark days, and to heal you all…
With much love and light,
Jhoanne Asva
